Degree and Major Actions

Degree Actions:
For admission and readmission to UCSB: http://www.admissions.ucsb.edu/

To determine what UCSB computer science course is equivalent to a computer science course from another institution (BS or BA):
Go to http://www.assist.org. Choose Explore Transfer Information. Next, choose the institution. Choose the year in which you took/will take the course. Go to Agreements with Other Campuses and select UCSB. Choose Major: Computer Science or Department: Computer Science to find the computer science class lists for the two institutions. If the course has an equivalent at UCSB, print that page, and bring it and a copy of your transcript containing the course to the CS department office. You may petition to get subject credit for the course. If there is no equivalent listed for the class, or if the institution is not included in the list, you will need to bring a full syllabus of the course and a copy of your transcript, as proof of taking the course, to the CS department office for evaluation.

Degree Checks:
Complete the PROGRESS CHECK REQUEST FORM (green half-sheet) CS Department office and submit it to CS office. Please allow three to four weeks for your check for processing. Once it is completed, you will receive an email for an advising appointment. Degree checks and schedule advising are not available during the first three weeks of classes. General Education advising is done by the College of Engineering (BS) or the College of Letters and Science (BA).

Major Actions:

To declare the Computer Science Major (B.S.):
Complete the UNDERGRADUATE PETITION FOR CHANGE OF MAJOR, COLLEGE OR PROGRAM (yellow form) and COMPUTER SCIENCE MAJOR ELECTIVE APPROVAL FORM (pink form) and submit them to the College of Engineering Office. It is possible that some petitions that meet the minimum requirements will not be approved as our admissions are restricted by our limited resources. Submit the petition during the finals week of the quarter you finish the minimum requirements. If you will graduate with more than 200 units, you must file a Proposed Schedule for Graduation (yellow form), along with your Change of Major Petition.

To declare the Computer Science Major (B.A.):
